Cesira lives at her cousin Agnese's house. Agnese is beautiful, while Cesira, dreamy and sentimental, is not very attractive. Agnese attracts all eyes, while Cesira, on the other hand, always goes unnoticed. Despite this, Cesira dreams of one day finding the man of her life, for a fortune teller has told her that she is in the "sign of Venus". One day, she meets Romolo, a boy who lives on files, and Alessio, a mature man who considers himself a poet and conquers her with his indifferent and superior way of being. A fortuitous accident allows her to meet Ignazio, a handsome fireman, but when he meets Agnese, he devotes all his attention to her.
